Prof. Dr. iur. Dr. phil. Thomas B. Schmidt has specialized in the field of insolvency law.

 

He has been appointed as a lawyer specialized in insolvency law, as well as in labour and employment law. Besides, he is a qualified mediator (DAA), co-editor of the "Zeitschrift für das gesamte Insolvenzrecht (ZInsO)", editor and author of numerous papers dealing with insolvency law, Honorary Professor of the Hochschule Trier, lecturer for commercial and insolvency law, co-director of the "Birkenfelder Institut für Ausbildung und Qualitätssicherung im Insolvenzwesen am Fachbereich Umweltwirtschaft / Umweltrecht der Hochschule Trier", and co-director of ZEFIS (a center for insolvency law and restructuring practice in Rhineland-Palatinate as a common scientific institute pursuant to § 93 of the Higher Education Act (Landeshochschulgesetz) of the Land Rhineland-Palatinate for Trier University, the Hochschule Koblenz, and the Hochschule Trier).

 

Besides, Prof. Dr. jur. Dr. phil. Thomas B. Schmidt is a member of the executive board of the Bar Association for the district of the Higher Regional Court of Koblenz, he gives special lessons in labour and employment law at the Regional Court of Trier for the training of junior lawyers, and he acts as examiner for the Second State Exam for Lawyers.
